Indian Maritime University signed MoU with Indian Navy
The MoU between the Indian Navy and the Indian Maritime University was signed by the Vice Chancellor and the Chief of Materiel of the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy) on 02 June 2023 at New Delhi.

Indian Navy signs MoU with IMU Visakhapatnam Campus for INSTEP
Indian Navy (IN), represented by Cmde. Arun Pratap Golaya, Officer In-charge, Technology Development Acceleration Cell (TDAC), New Delhi and Indian Maritime University Visakhapatnam Campus (IMU-VC), represented by Prof. Kesavadev, V.K., Campus Director(i/c) entered into a MoU in order to advance a culture of innovation, indigenisation, and research into IN's cutting-edge technologies, such as warship technology, underwater weaponry, and sensors. IMU Visakhapatnam is valued as a knowledge partner by IN for its distinguished Indian Naval Students' Technical Engagement Programme (INSTEP).

Director, DMS, DRDO addresses Students of SNAOE at IMU Visakhapatnam
Dr. Manu Korulla, Director, Directorate of Management Services, DRDO, formerly Scientist G and Director Technology, NSTL, DRDO interacted with the students of SNAOE on 20th May 2023. He deliberated on the qualities of a Naval Architect in the true spirit. His address was followed by thought provoking interactions with students.
Dr. Korulla was accompanied by Dr. Bharadwaja Srinivasa Ayyangar. Scientist F, NSTL, DRDO and Shri. Ali Sagar Calcuttawala, Co-founder. Saif Seas.
An eminent DRDO scientist, a distinguished panel member of the Naval Research Board and a fine Naval Architect, Dr. Ayyangar encouraged the students to become members in the Institution of Naval Architects (INA), visakhapatnam Chapter. He also brought to light the benefits of INA membership.
Shri. Ali Sagar Calcuttawala is well known for his self propelled vessel models. He demonstrated the working of a self-propelled trimaran life buoy model to the students.

Maritime Talk Series - Lecture on Maritime Cyber Security by Professor Kevin Jones, Executive Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Plymouth, United Kingdom
A talk was organized about Maritime Cyber Security for all the students' company of the University.
All campuses were connected online and there was enthusiastic participation from Students, Faculty and Staff.
Our Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Dean, Campus Directors and Officials attended the lecture talk.
Further to the Lecture, talks were held for exploring possible collaborations.

IMU Visakhaptnam on All India Radio
Dr. Bhanu Prakash, Associate Professor and HoD (i/c), SMM and Dr. Sheeja Janardhanan, Associate Professor and HoD, SNAOE appeared for an interview at All India Radio (Akashwani) at Visakhapatnam station on 17th May 2023.
The interview was broadcasted at 4:45 pm and 5:15 pm on the same day by AIR Rainbow FM and AIR main station respectively.
The interview covered all the details of admission process and placement opportunities concerned with various programmes of SMM and SNAOE at IMU Visakhapatnam.

The British Deputy High Commission, Chennai under the head of Mr.Sujith Thomas, Department for International Trade along with Mr.Muhammad Abdulla, Deputy Head for Maritime Exports and Mr.Jeetej Jandu, India Business Specialist for the UK Governments’ Department for Business and Trade, the Maritime sector visited IMU, HQ and met Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, for potential collaborations between India and UK business/organisations. Capt.Raghuraman Kesavan, Director, GU Crude Carriers was also present during the meeting.

Congratulations to Dr. Yogamala.H.L Assistant Professor, IMU Kochi Campus for being Pre-selected as the National Legal Consultant for India under the IMO’ GloLitter Partnerships Project
Dr. Yogamala.H.L Assistant Professor, IMU Kochi Campus has been Pre-selected as the National Legal Consultant for India under the IMO’ GloLitter Partnerships Project with 30 other International Strategic Partners.
The GloLitter Partnerships Project (GloLitter) is implemented by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with initial funding from the Government of Norway via the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). GloLitter is supporting 30 developing countries in reducing sea-based marine plastic litter (SBMPL) from the maritime transport and fisheries sectors, to reverse the negative environmental impacts of plastic discard and loss. The project strengthens government and port management institutional capacities in addressing marine plastic litter issues (MPL) and supports legal, policy and institutional reforms at the country level. The objective of GloLitter is therefore directed towards a sustainable implementation of the international regulatory framework and best practice for significant reduction of SBMPL in the shipping and fisheries sectors.

Lecture on 'Surface Ship Maneuvering and the Role of Numerical Towing Tanks' by Dr. Sheeja Janardhanan, Associate Professor and Head, School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam campus
Dr. Sheeja Janardhanan, Associate Professor and Head, School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam campus delivered a lecture on “Surface Ship Maneuvering and the Role of Numerical Towing Tanks” as part of technical lectures conducted by Institution of Naval Architects (INA) Delhi Chapter at the Naval Construction Wing (NCW), IIT Delhi on 11th Feb 2023.
During the lecture she deliberated on the theory of ship maneuvering and the significance of hydrodynamic derivatives in the trajectory predictions of ships. She also bought in the need for simulations using the numerical towing tank to compliment the model testing using conventional towing tanks as a measure to ensure sound maneuverability in the early stages of ship design.
The session was attended by the officers of Indian Navy viz. Rear Admiral Nirmal Menon, Rear Admiral IB Uthaiya, Rear Admiral Mukul Kapoor, Rear Admiral Bimal Kumar, Cmdre Sujith Bakshi, Cmdre R.K. Bhatia (retd.), Capt. Manoj Kumar, Capt. Sunit Mehrotra, Capt. Amit Punia, Cdr. Shashank Shankar, Cdr. Vikram Singh, Cdr. Pankaj Grover and also officers and under trainees of NCW.
